How to Support Community Resource Curators
Published November 6, 2026
Resource curators make shared knowledge easier to use by selecting, organizing, describing, and reviewing material for the community.
Curation is a form of community care. It saves members time while helping them understand which resources are relevant, current, and trustworthy.
Define the curator’s scope. A person should know which topics, formats, and audiences they are responsible for.
Provide a simple review process. Clear criteria make it easier to decide whether a resource belongs, needs context, or should be replaced.
Protect curator capacity. Resource work can expand indefinitely, so priorities and review frequency should remain realistic.
Invite multiple perspectives. Different members may notice language, access, regional, or cultural limitations in a resource.
Credit the work. Selection, annotation, and maintenance are valuable contributions even when the final guide looks simple.
Support handoffs. Documentation makes it possible for another curator to continue the work without losing the reasoning behind previous choices.
