How to Plan Community Resource Reviews
Published November 6, 2026
Regular resource reviews keep shared libraries trustworthy by checking accuracy, accessibility, relevance, and continued usefulness.
A resource that was valuable last year may now be outdated, difficult to access, or less relevant to the community’s needs. Review keeps shared knowledge dependable.
Set a review schedule based on how quickly the subject changes. Some resources need frequent checks, while stable references can be reviewed less often.
Check the basics first. Confirm that links work, titles are accurate, and the resource still says what the community description claims.
Consider the reader’s experience. Look at language, cost, accessibility, technical requirements, and whether a beginner can understand the starting point.
Invite a fresh perspective. Someone who did not select the resource may notice assumptions or barriers that the original curator missed.
Record the decision. Mark whether the resource is current, needs an update, should be replaced, or remains useful mainly as historical context.
Resource review is maintenance, not criticism. It helps the community respect members’ time and preserve information that people can trust.
