How to Organize Community Resource Reviews
Published November 6, 2026
Regular resource reviews keep shared information useful by checking accuracy, accessibility, relevance, and the experience of real readers.
A resource can remain online while becoming less useful. Review helps a community notice when links, advice, or formats no longer fit members’ needs.
Set a review schedule based on how quickly the subject changes. Not every resource needs the same frequency.
Check source and date first. Readers need to know whether the information remains current and where it came from.
Test the member experience. Look at clarity, cost, language, access requirements, and whether a newcomer can find a starting point.
Invite a fresh reviewer. Someone who did not select the resource may see assumptions or barriers that the original curator missed.
Record the decision. Mark whether the resource remains current, needs an update, should be replaced, or is useful mainly as history.
Resource reviews protect trust. They show members that shared knowledge is maintained rather than simply collected and forgotten.
