How to Create Community Feedback Summaries

Published November 6, 2026

A feedback summary shows members what was heard, which patterns appeared, and how the community plans to respond.

Feedback summaries close the distance between sharing an opinion and seeing how it affects community decisions. They should be accurate, useful, and respectful of privacy.

Describe the question or period reviewed. Readers need to know which feedback the summary represents.

Separate themes from individual stories. Patterns can guide decisions, while personal details may need protection or permission before being shared.

Include different experiences. A summary should not hide minority views simply because they were less frequent.

Explain what can happen next. State which ideas will be tested, adopted, researched, or left unchanged for a clear reason.

Name limitations in the feedback. Participation levels, timing, and question wording can affect what the responses show.

A good summary builds trust through visibility. Members can see that their contributions were considered even when the outcome is not exactly what they hoped.
