Creating Community Question Prompts

Published November 6, 2026

Good prompts invite useful participation by being specific enough to answer and open enough to welcome different experiences.

A strong question prompt gives members a clear starting point without deciding the answer in advance. It helps people contribute from different levels of experience.

Explain the context briefly. Members can respond more thoughtfully when they understand why the question matters.

Ask for a manageable contribution. A request for one example, one lesson, or one resource is easier to answer than a demand for a complete analysis.

Avoid assuming a shared experience. Phrases that leave room for different circumstances make more people feel included.

Offer optional follow-up questions. Members can go deeper when they have time without making a detailed response necessary.

Return to useful answers. Summarize patterns, thank contributors, and explain what the discussion helped the community understand.
